Acaricides are pesticides that are used to kill various insects, mites, ticks and prevent any infection from any of these specimens on animals. Ticks and mites have the potential to transmit a range of diseases to livestock. Acaricides are used by farmers as they are specifically designed to attack the nervous systems of ticks and mites and will not affect any produce that they are sprayed on. There are certain animals to which acaricides are harmful. For example, they cannot be used on fish as they would harm the fish itself. Some of the major diseases that are transmitted by ticks include theileriosis, anaplasmosis, and babesiosis. Chemical acaricides have been found to be the most effective method of killing ticks.

The South American and APAC regions will represent the largest potential for acaricides because of the large volume of cattle of farming which takes place in these regions. Also with the ever increasing population, the demand for grain, dairy products and meat continues to grow. This will further the growth of the acaricide market in these regions. Demand from the European and North American markets will be moderate considering these regions have already been using the pesticide for quite some time now and hence, most of the life-stock is under control. Countries that have a large amount of cattle farming account for a large share of the acaricide market. These include countries like China, India and some of the east european countries. However, the use of acaricides is also controlled by government regulations and this could affect the growth of the market. Acaricide manufacturers are turning to R&D to develop new products that could address the issue of stringent government regulations.

This market has also been segmented on the basis of the mode of application as Spray, Dipping Vat, Hand Dressing and Others.
